Advanced Hair Transplant for Men and Women

Hair loss is a common problem affecting both women and men. Hair thinning has more than an impact on your confidence.  It can significantly damage your self-esteem and can have a debilitating effect on day to day life for anyone experiencing things from simple hair loss to severe scalp infections.

Our board-certified experts have extensive experience in restoring confidence with the best cutting edge hair transplant Tampa has to offer, including the FUE hair transplant procedure.

What is FUE Hair Transplant?

Hair transplant surgery has evolved dramatically over the past several decades. From hair plugs to single strip excision with stereomicroscopic dissection, several techniques have been introduced and several techniques have been discarded. The once popular, punch extraction technique has now been refined and introduced as FUE hair transplant.

FUE stands for Follicular Unit Extraction, and it is also known as strip harvesting. It is a hair transplant method in which Dr. Nayyar will extract the follicular units in your hair one by one, from the genetically stronger areas of your scalp known as the donor area and artistically restore your thinning areas. With FUE hair transplant gaining popularity over the last decade, you can say goodbye to baldness and excessive hair loss.

How Does FUE Hair Transplantation Work?

The Follicular Unit Extraction method involves removing hair follicles from a donor section and grafting them into the section of your head that is balding. The FUE hair transplant method is a simple three step process. You will be guided through the process by Dr. Nayyar during your first consultation.

Step 1: In step one, Dr. Nayyar will analyze your head and choose an area as the donor site. She will then clean the donor site and numb it with lidocaine, a local anesthesia.

Dr. Nayyar will mark the transplantation site at the balding area of your head and then make a series of small incisions.

Step 2: Dr. Nayyar will remove follicular units from the donor site. Follicular units consist of a group of up to four hairs. The follicular units are then removed along with some surrounding skin from the donor site on your head.

Step 3: In step three, the follicular units are inserted into the incisions in the transplantation site, where they gradually start yielding hair.

Are You a Candidate for this Procedure?

The FUE hair transplant procedure is not suitable for everyone. Several restrictions are considered by Dr. Nayyar before determining if the surgery is suitable for you.  You are eligible for FUE hair transplant if you:

  • Generally have good health.
  • Have a stable supply of donor hair.
  • Find that non-surgical hair loss treatments do not work for you.
  • Have lost hair due to trauma such as burns, or cosmetic procedures such as a facelift.
  • Have been diagnosed with a condition which prevents natural hair growth.

You may not be a candidate if you:

  • Are suffering from multiple medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, hypertension, or heart problems.
  • Have low density of hair on the back of your head, which is usually used as the donor site.

The Follicular Unit Extraction method is a minimally invasive procedure that uses small circular punches to remove the individual follicular units. It is ideal for you if you are in your early stage of hair loss. It is also used for mustache or eyebrow replacement. This surgery is not a process that can be performed by any surgeon, and it requires a specially trained and experienced surgeon such as Dr. Priya Nayyar.

If you have any concerns regarding this procedure, consult with Dr. Nayyar at Dermaclinique. Dr. Nayyar is one of the premier doctors in hair transplant Tampa has available and has been using this technique consistently with successful results.
