CO2 Laser Resurfacing
St.Petersburg

Erase Years from Your Face

Over time, skin can lose its youthful glow due to sun exposure and the body’s natural aging process. Laser skin treatments are a popular cosmetic procedure that can help rejuvenate the skin and reduce the effects of sun, aging, and some facial skin disorders. Treatments are safe, effective, and convenient. At Dermaclinique, Dr. Nayyar offers advanced CO2 laser resurfacing in St. Petersburg with excellent results in the treatment of wrinkles, crepiness, sun spots, and acne scars.

What is CO2 Laser Resurfacing?

CO2 laser resurfacing is a state-of-the-art non-surgical skin rejuvenation treatment. It is a procedure that uses a laser to improve the appearance of your skin by removing the damaged outer layer of your facial skin with minimal heat damage. In this procedure, the laser passes through an optical lens into your skin in tiny streams of heat.

The heat produced by the laser tightens your skin by softening wrinkles, smoothing out scars and minimizing pores. It also stimulates your skin’s collagen production. The short pulsed light energy, also known as ultra pulse, exfoliates the damaged layers of your skin. The healthy skin that generates after the procedure reveals a smoother, brighter complexion.

CO2 Laser Resurfacing Procedure

Before the procedure, Dr. Nayyar will review your medical history, ask about your current physical condition and medications, previous cosmetic surgeries and allergies. She will also conduct a physical exam and discuss your expectations with the treatment.

This procedure is not suitable if you have active acne or very dark skin. If you have a history of herpes infection, Dr. Nayyar may prescribe antiviral medication and oral antibiotic several days before the procedure to prevent further infection after the procedure.

During your CO2 laser resurfacing in St. Petersburg, your skin will be numbed with a local anesthetic. An intense beam of light energy is then directed at your skin on the area being treated. This laser beam destroys the outer layer of your skin, which is called the epidermis. The laser heats the underlying skin (the dermis) and causes the collagen fibers to shrink. This activates the production of collagen and the natural healing process of your skin. When your new skin forms, it will be smoother and tighter. This procedure takes from 30 to 120 minutes, depending on the size of the area to be treated.

After the procedure, you may experience itching in the treated area. There might be some swelling as well. Dr. Nayyar will dress the area and prescribe painkillers if necessary, and you will also be given exact aftercare instructions.

Dr. Nayyar at Dermaclinique has several years of experience in laser resurfacing.
